Happy New Year and welcome to our first blog of 2020!
In this blog post, we deviate a little from our norm to bring you an insightful piece on what to look out for when buying a phone..any phone!
More often than not, the choice of our purchase is dictated by our budgets rather than our preferences ultimately sacrificing quality and value for our money.
Sometimes we make the right choice other times not so much….Here are a few things to help you make an informed decision while buying a phone this year!
BUILD QUALITY
The phone market has been traditionally divided into two builds; plastic and metal and a new introduction of glass panels. Plastic and metal will sustain bigger falls than glass panels…this is key in avoiding constant phone repairs
BATTERY
While we have seen exponential growth in other phone parts such as the camera, display screens, processors..etc..there has been very slow advancement on the battery size in terms of mAh(Milliamp hour) ie. a phone with 4000 mAh will have a longer battery life than a 2000 mAh…
USER INTERFACE
The user interface is the operating system on the phone..i.e IOS, ANDROID, WINDOWS and the most recent Huawei’s HARMONYOS. Some users will find certain OS’s easier to use than others. It is therefore important that you choose a phone with your preferred operating system.
CAMERA
We can all agree that the phone camera has certainly replaced the traditional camera and has become an integral part of modern day life while capturing our everyday memories. Contrary to popular opinion, having a higher number of megapixels does not guarantee a great photo, there are many other factors to consider such as camera aperture, auto-focus, ISO level and most importantly lighting.
STORAGE
The biggest storage part of a smart phone is taken by the OS and the applications that comes installed.
Most of the high end models have a base of 64GB considering most of them are not expandable.People tend to go for smaller capacity and opt to expand with an SD card.
AUDIO
For those who do video streaming and conference call should really care about the audio coming out of a phone. We have phones with Stereo speakers and others have front facing speakers others are bottom firing speakers.
The audio jacks really matter we have many varieties from lightening, Type C and the Jack earphones.
PROCESSOR
The processing power of smartphone varies from one device to another depending on several factors such as OS version, UI,Bloatware among others.if you are heavy user get a processor that will make your multitasking fluid for you.
We hope this information here helps our readers to understand what to look for while making that purchase. These are just but a few factors to consider we are looking forward for feedbacks on what you may want featured in our blog.
